This weekend was the annual Dutch Bike Dutch bike ride in Pennsylvania, and there were some bees on the route. There were some commercial hives in one of the orchards, and at one point we rode into a big cloud of bees. It was a swarm clumping onto the branch of a tree. They are probably a swarm that left a hive that was overcrowded. They will hang out on the tree for a few days while the scout bees go find a new home. Then, after some scouting and voting, they will leave the tree and go to their new place.
